Today, the Embassy organized a community gathering to observe the Human Rights Day. Every year the Human Rights Day is observed to commemorate the day the UN General Assembly adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Addressing the gathering, the Charge d’ Affaires informed that the Government of Pakistan is fully committed to advancing and safeguarding human rights and fundamental freedom of all people of Pakistan, in accordance with Constitution and national laws. As a democratic and progressive state with a vibrant civil society, independent judiciary and free media, Pakistan is firmly committed to uphold, promote and safeguard universal human rights and fundamental freedoms for all. This year, the human rights day has assumed special significance as people of IOJ&K are facing gross human rights violations and being denied fundamental freedom including right of self-determination.
