In observance of “Youm-e-Istehsal”, the Mission organized a community gathering at the Chancery today, which was attended by prominent members of the community, students and officials of the Embassy. The ceremony began with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The messages of President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi were read out on the occasion. Pakistani students from different universities performed national songs. While expressing tribute to the unparallel commitment of the Kashmiris for the attainment of the legitimate right to self-determination, Ambassador Sardar Azhar Tariq Khan highlighted the ongoing Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), particularly since the abrogation of Article-370 and 35(A) of the Indian constitution. The Ambassador recounted the policy measures being taken successively by the Modi administration which were in violation of all norms of morality and political normalcy, and were positively motivated by the fascist and extremist Hindu nationalist ideology of RSS. The Ambassador also highlighted the political and historical significance of the unveiling of the new political map of Pakistan, which reaffirmed Pakistan’s legal and principled claim on IIOJ&K. The event also featured a photo exhibition showcasing grave human right violations by the Indian occupation forces. The participants expressed solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren and reiterated their resolve to make efforts in their respective are of influence to create awareness among the local population about the Kashmir issue and unprecedented human rights violations by Indian forces in the Kashmir valley.
