Embassy and Permanent Mission of Pakistan in Vienna Observes Kashmir Solidarity Day to Reiterate Unwavering Support for Kashmiri People
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN and Other International Organizations in Vienna organized an event to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day, to express and reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) in their pursuit of the fundamental right to self-determination.
During the event, messages from the President, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read to the audience. Ambassador and Permanent Representative Muhammad Kamran Akhtar, while reading the messages, underscored Pakistan’s steadfast and unflinching political, diplomatic, and moral support for the just struggle of Kashmiri people for freedom. He also emphasized that this annual observance on 5 February serves as a testament to the people of Pakistan’s continuing solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren who are struggling against the illegal military occupation by India for nearly the last eight decades.
The Ambassador urged the international community to move beyond mere expressions of concern for the Kashmiri people and persuade India to stop the human rights violations in IIOJK, marred by heavy militarization, egregious human rights violations and arbitrary political detentions, and allow unfettered access to the UN and international human rights observers to enable Kashmiri people to exercise their promised right to self-determination through a plebiscite.
The event was attended by a large number Pakistani community and members of the Kashmiri diaspora residing in Austria and Slovakia. Participants expressed a unified voice against the systematic suppression of Kashmiri Muslims by Indian occupying forces. The event concluded with a collective demand for a peaceful resolution in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
