On the momentous occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence & Marka e Haq Day, a grand flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Pakistan in Vienna, led by Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Mohammad Kamran Akhtar.

Special messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out. In his address, Ambassador and Permanent Representative shed light on the historical significance of this important day. He emphasized that this day calls for further strengthening of national unity and commitment towards making Pakistan economically prosperous. Furthermore, he also underscored the importance of strong bilateral ties of Pakistan with Austria and Slovakia.

While paying tribute to the heroic bravery and valor displayed by the Armed Forces of Pakistan during Operation Bunyan al-Marsoos, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative stated that it wasn’t only the validation of Two Nation Theory, but also a profound political, military and moral achievement reflecting Pakistan’s identity as a peace‑loving nation, steadfast in the protection of its sovereignty and respect for international law and justice.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s continued diplomatic support, in line with UN Resolutions, for the people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) in their struggle for their right to self-determination.

The event was attended by a broad-section of Pakistani community, residing in Austria and Slovakia, and displayed unwavering solidarity with their homeland.
