UNIDO General Conference elects Pakistan to the Industrial Development Board (IDB) and Programme and Budget Committee (PBC)
Pakistan has been elected as Member of UNIDO’s two main Policy Making Organs, the Industrial Development Board (for the term 2026-29) and of Programme & Budget Committee (for the term 2026-27).
Pakistan’s election to the two Policy Making Organs is a manifestation of the trust deposed by UNIDO Member States in Pakistan. Furthermore, Pakistan is also currently the President of the IDB.
Pakistan remains committed to UNIDO’s core mandate of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID) and works in close cooperation with UNIDO on advancing and further strengthening our mutual objective of Industry for Development.
Industry remains the corner stone of Pakistan’s national agenda for sustainable economic transformation. Guided by Vision 2050, URAAN Pakistan and the National Industrial Policy, the government of Pakistan is pursuing structural reforms aimed at enhancing industrial productivity, promoting local value addition, and supporting the transition towards a green and digital economy.
Pakistan’s priorities in UNIDO include strengthening of agro-industry for food security, zero hunger, job creation and poverty alleviation, sustainable supply chains and climate action and development of advance industrial technologies, digital transformation, use of AI and green technologies.
Pakistan also congratulates Director General UNIDO, Mr. Gerd Muller, on his re-election for the second term and looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with UNIDO during Mr. Muller's second term.
