Mr. Muhemmed Aejaz assumed the role of Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar in November 2022. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Qatar, he served as Ambassador of Pakistan to Hungary from 2019 to 2022.
As a career diplomat, Ambassador Aejaz has held various important roles in Pakistan’s Missions abroad. He served as Deputy Head of Mission in Cairo (2014–2015) and Paris (2011–2014), as Counsellor in Colombo (2006–2008), Second Secretary in Stockholm (2002–2005), and Third Secretary in Kabul (1997–2000).
In addition to his foreign assignments, Ambassador Aejaz held the position of Additional Secretary (Afghanistan, Iran, Türkiye) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan from 2018 to 2019, where he worked closely with regional and international partners including US, China and Russia to take the ongoing Afghan peace initiative forward. He also served as Director General for Afghanistan, Iran, Türkiye, as well as for Middle East and Americas.
Ambassador Aejaz is a graduate of Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, from where he earned his MBBS degree. Born on 12 July 1966 in Peshawar, he joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1992. He is married and has two sons and a daughter.
