Kashmir protest events were held on Friday, September 20, 2019 in Rome, Milan and Turin to highlight the themes ‘Respect the dignity of Women in IOJ&K’ and ‘International Peace Day and Kashmiris’.

In Rome, women from the community and the Embassy speaking on the occasion highlighted the atrocities being committed against the innocent women of Kashmir by the Indian security forces. Speeches were made in English, Urdu and Italian by the female participants. The participants called upon the international community to ensure that the right of the Kashmiri people and the women must be protected.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador stressed the importance of highlighting the plight of the Kashmiris at all fora. He said that Pakistan will continue to provide its political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir. He paid a rich tribute to the women of Kashmir who had sacrificed their own lives and of their loved ones in their quest for achieving their goal.

In Milan, members of the Pakistani community including women attended the event organized at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Milan. They carried placards in support of Kashmiri women and chanted slogans. The Consul General of Pakistan, Dr. Manzoor Chaudhry encouraged members of the community to continue to raise their voice for the people of Kashmir. He encouraged them to redouble their efforts and reach out to the friendly people of Italy seeking their help and support for Kashmir cause.

In Turin, Tanveer Ahmed, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Pakistan, Rome and Dr. Rizwan Salabat, Community Welfare Attache, Consulate General of Pakistan, Milan presided over the event held at the Engineering University of Turin. The Pakistani students in their speeches highlighted the Kashmir issue and called upon world nations to play the role in grant of right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir. Mr. Tanveer Ahmed reiterated the diplomatic, moral and political support of Government of Pakistan to Kashmir cause. He advised Pakistani students to project the Kashmir cause with their fellow Italian students.

All events concluded with prayers for the martyrs and for the safety and security of Pakistan and the people of Kashmir.
