The Ministry of Foreign Affairs bears the mandate and responsibility to coordinate and implement Pakistan's foreign policy. Ministry serves as a channel which the Government of Pakistan communicates with foreign governments and international organizations. This includes matters related to political relations, economic affairs, security and defense matters, cultural promotion, and people-to-people exchange. The Ministry is geared towards fulfilling its role and functions:
- Uphold, protect, and advance Pakistan's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests.
- Monitor and analyse regional and global developments.
- Develop foreign policy and advise the Government on international affairs.
- Coordinate and lead the Government position on international issues with other Ministries and Agencies.
- Facilitate other Pakistani Ministries and Agencies in their international engagements
- Conduct effective diplomacy with the intent to generate economic activity.
- Introduce Pakistan globally and disseminate information about our cultures and values.
- Protect and represent the interests of Pakistani citizens abroad; with the provision of necessary assistance.
- Coordinate with Pakistan's missions abroad and foreign diplomatic missions in Pakistan
