Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz received Mr. Borge Brende, Foreign Minister of Norway and members of his delegation today. Norwegian Foreign Minister is on a one day official visit to Pakistan.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral relations and looked into various possibilities of deepening existing ties in diverse areas including trade, investment, education, energy and cultural cooperation.

The Adviser briefed the visiting Foreign Minister on Pakistan’s vision of a peaceful neighbourhood and highlighted Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts. The visiting Foreign Minister appreciated the positive role played by Pakistan in countering terrorism.

The two sides also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the region. Views were also exchanged on global issues including the Middle East and Europe.

The visiting Foreign Minister lauded the positive approach of the large Pakistani Diaspora in Norway.

The discussions held in a cordial atmosphere positively contributed towards strengthening of existing ties.
