Ambassador’s Official Visit to Rio de Janeiro.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Brazil H.E. Mr. Najm us Saqib, undertook an official visit to the port city of Rio de Janeiro, from 24 to 26 August 2017.

In his meeting with Mr. Rubens da Silva, Municipal Secretary for Conservation and Environment, the Ambassador discussed the proposals of twining of Lahore and Rio de Janeiro as Sister Cities; naming a Government school as Pakistan School in Rio de Janeiro; and exchange of delegations for initiating people-to-people contact especially with regard to introducing each other’s culture. Mr. Rubens and the Ambassador decided to keep in contact with each other for follow up actions in this regard.

The Ambassador was warmly received at the Grand Building of Rio Chambers of Commerce by prominent businessmen like Mr. Eduardo Bastos and Fernando Travassos. The members of the Chamber informed the Ambassador of developments taken place after the signing of the Protocol of Intent for Constitution of the Brazil-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce in Rio de Janeiro. The Ambassador briefed his hosts on the process of finalization of an MOU between the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil). The said MOU is presently under consideration of the Government of Pakistan.

In addition, the possibility of holding a single country exhibition in Rio de Janeiro was also discussed while agreeing upon the importance of exchange of business delegations between the Chambers of both the countries to further strengthen trade relations between Pakistan and Brazil.

The Honorary Consul General of Pakistan in Rio de Janeiro and CEO of MP Trade & Investments, Mr. Marco Polo accompanied the Ambassador during all his official meetings in Rio de Janeiro.
