Machine Readable Passport (MRP)

Every citizen of Pakistan is entitled to a Machine Readable Passport (MRP) upon completion of required formalities. Passports are issued to bona fide citizens through Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad.

Guidelines for Pakistani Citizens Living in Serbia

1. Online Passport Renewal

Overseas Pakistanis can renew their passports online through the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGIP) at: https://onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk

2. Applying at the Embassy of Pakistan, Belgrade

Timings: Monday to Thursday, 10:00 – 13:00 hours (except public holidays)
Applications are accepted only with complete documentation. Incomplete cases will not be processed. Processing is on a “First Come, First Served” basis; no prior appointment is required.

Steps in Application Process

1. Submit complete documents and receive a token.
2. Biometrics (fingerprints) and digital photograph.
3. Data entry and verification.
4. Record check from central database.
5. Electronic transfer to Pakistan for passport printing.

Required Documents for Passport

1. Evidencing proof of prescribed passport fee payment.
2. Original valid CNICs or Passports of both Parents along with photocopies. (Reference: Passport Rules 2021)
3. A minor seeking a passport shall be accompanied by either of the parents or legal guardian, appointed by the court of law, alongwith the original valid CNICs/Passports of both parents or legal guardian, as the case may be.
4. In case parents are separated/divorced, bring custody papers granted by the Court of Law.
5. In case the parents of the minor are divorced or separated and the application for a passport is submitted by either of the parents, in respect of the minor. Explicit permission will be required for the issuance of a passport, in the shape of the other parent's physical presence, or through his/her consent on duly attested non-judicial stamp paper. (Reference: Passport Rules 2021)
6. In the case of a guardian, bring a guardianship certificate, issued by the court of law and the appointed Guardian will visit the Passport office personally with the minor, along with his/her original CNIC and its photocopy.
7. Foreign Passport along with its photocopy, (for Dual Nationals only).
8. In case either of the parent is deceased, his/her original Death Certificate along with a photocopy.
9. In case of a Lost passport, bring a Lost passport Police report mentioning the previous passport number.

For Lost Passports:

• Police report from Serbian police/immigration authorities.

4. Important Notes

• CNIC/NICOP is mandatory for MRP issuance.
• No photographs or forms are required separately.
• MRPs cannot be issued or renewed by mail or through representatives.
• No corrections or amendments are allowed in an existing MRP; apply for a new one if changes are needed.
• Married women must have husband’s name on CNIC/NICOP; otherwise, father’s name will appear on the passport.
• Passport fee is non-refundable.
• If date of birth in CNIC shows only the year (e.g., 1965), MRP will record it as 01-01-1965.

5. Validity and Processing Time

• Validity Options: 5 years or 10 years
• Urgent: 2–3 weeks
• Regular: 3–4 weeks
