The World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Board delegation, led by Mr. Samuel Beever, President of WFP Executive Board, called on the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs here in Foreign Office yesterday. The 6-member delegation is visiting Pakistan from 6-15 September 2015 to see the implementation of WFP projects in the field.
The Adviser welcomed the delegation and appreciated the role of WFP in assisting the Government of Pakistan to cater to the food and nutrition needs of the people. He stressed the importance of expanding WFP’s existing profile in Pakistan by moving towards Development Operations and prioritizing the strengthening of Pakistani institutions through capacity building and technology transfer, apart from meeting the essential food needs of temporarily displaced persons.
The delegation of WFP thanked the Government of Pakistan for its support and facilitation for the WFP programme in the country. They acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution to WFP as one of the largest host donor.
