Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs,Syed Tariq Fatemi, received the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus,Mr. Valentine Rybakov, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday.

The Special Assistant emphasized that Pakistan greatly valued its relations with the Republic of Belarus, which had been further strengthened by the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Minsk in August and the visit of the President of Belarus to Islamabad in May this year. The opening of Pakistan Embassy in Minsk had also contributed towards strengthening the bilateral ties.

He expressed the hope that the existing economic relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the coming months and Belarusian businessmen would utilize the business friendly policies of Pakistan to invest in diverse areas of its economy.

The Special Assistant also briefed the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus on the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for a peaceful neighbourhood. He stressed that regional peace was essential for the progress and prosperity of the entire region.

The visiting Deputy Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction at the existing bilateral ties between the two sides and expressed the hope that the two countries would continue to work on various initiatives to enhance their bilateral trade.
