Pakistan Embassy in Senegal participated in the country exhibition at the International School of Dakar. Ambassador Saima Sayed, joined by Embassy officers, families and members of Pakistani community set up the Pakistan booth. Pakistani food, crafts and music was showcased to students and faculty of the International School Dakar, diplomatic corps and Senegalese guests.
Our Henna stall was highly popular. Home-made samosas, pakoras, aloo tikki, chicken pulao and kheer were highly appreciated along with Rooh Afza. Strains of Dil Dil Pakistan in the background gave the guests a flavor of Pakistan and joined in singing Dil Dil Pakistan Jaan Jaan Pakistan.
Ambassador Saima Sayed mentored two young Senegalese girls Ms. Bienvenue Beatrice and Ms. Marie Josephine under the Ailes pour Elles Initiative by UNICEF Sénégal. It was a six-month (May-October 2023) program during which she interacted with her 2 mentees and in addition to mentoring them in leadership skills, she also briefed them about the functions of the Embassy and her role as Ambassador. Ambassador hosted them for lunch and presented Pakistani ajraks as souvenirs. It was a great opportunity to connect with the Senegalese youth and tell them about Pakistan.
Under the UNICEF mentorship program, Ambassador invited her mentees to spend time in the Embassy as Ambassador for day. The mentees learnt abut he challenging role of Head of Mission and a life of a diplomat. They also got a glimpse in the working of the Pakistan Embassy and contours of Pakistan Foreign Policy
Embassy of Pakistan, celebrated Pakistan Day, “Journee du Pakistan” at the Pakistan Pavilion set up at the Dakar International Trade Fair FIDAK 2023. The whole of FIDAK echoed with Dil Dil Pakistan and Pakistani snacks was served to all those who were visiting the Pakistan Pavilion. Senegalese visitors appreciated the Pakistani products and hospitality. Pakistanis in Dakar joined in the festivity as well. A large number of Pakistanis also travelled from The Gambia for this event. The mehndi stall was extremely popular among the Senegalese girls. Pakistanis at the event heartily joined in the festivities and danced to the Pakistani tunes.
