Youm e Istehsal Kashmir was organized by the Embassy of Pakistan Niamey Republic of Niger in association with the African Development University (ADU) Niamey. Academics, and students from various faculties attended the event. Large number of print and electronic media representative covered the proceedings. The event started with the recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran followed by National Anthem. Speaking at the occasion, Chancellor University, Mr. Kader Kanye, reaffirmed Niger’s support to Pakistan on the Kashmir dispute and stated that he was “proud to stand with Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir”. Expressing concern on the plight of Kashmiri civilians.

Ambassador Ahmed Ali Sirohey, underscored the importance of observing the Kashmir Siege Day (Youm-e-Istehsal) and briefed audience about the issue and continual Indian oppression against unarmed citizens of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He informed about the use of brutal force by Indian occupational forces since 5 August 2019. He touched upon the human, legal and security dimensions of the Kashmir conflict. The Ambassador highlighted the atrocities committed by the occupying Indian forces against the Kashmiri civilian population and condemned the indiscriminate use of force especially the pellet guns against the youth to quell their legitimate freedom struggle. Ambassador noted that people’s rights to peaceful assembly, free movement and observance of religious obligations were being trampled upon and they were living in digital blackout.

The participants asked many questions and the Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey answered all the queries. The Chancellor African Development University Mr. Kader Kanye appreciated the event and termed it turning point to understand Kashmir issue. He said that the most of people were not aware of the issue. However, since last year the Embassy has engaged youth, academia, public, media, opinion leaders, religious leaders and parliamentarians to understand the issue and current status. The event concluded with prayers for the wellbeing and early success of the Kashmiri people in their just struggle against the occupying Indian forces.
