The First ever Pakistan-Finland Business Summit was inaugurated by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, at the Serena Hotel today.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister highlighted the close ties that existed between Pakistan and Finland and stressed on enhancing trade between the two countries. He stated that Pakistan is an investor-friendly country which provides an enormous market for foreign investors. Pakistan desires regional peace and stability and friendly relations with India and Afghanistan. The Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, upon completion, will provide connectivity and prosperity to more than three billion people of South Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East.
The Finnish Ambassador, Mr. Rauli Suikannen complimented the government on its investor-friendly policies and stated that renewed interaction between Pakistan and Finnish businessmen would yield positive results.
The Summit was also addressed by Ms. Anusha Rehman, Minister of State for Information Technology, Mr. Miftah Ismail, and Chairman Board of Investment. Pakistan and Finnish entrepreneurs also held b-2-b meetings on the sidelines of the Summit.
Prominent companies which participated in the event from Finland included Fortum, Wartsila, Nokia Solutions and Networks, Proxion Solutions, Infinity, Casagrande Laboratory/Haroma & Partners, and Finnpartnership/Finnfund.
The Business Summit was well attended.
