Mr. Nasser Bourita, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in her office, today.
Welcoming the Secretary General, the Foreign Minister referred to warm and cordial relations between Pakistan and Morocco. She underscored the need for enhancing trade and economic ties between the two countries. She expressed the hope that the next session of the Joint Ministerial Commission, which is scheduled to take place later this year, will help identify new areas of cooperation. She also highlighted the need for joint ventures in fertilizer, agro-based and pharmaceutical industries. Thanking the Secretary General for the invitation extended to her by her Moroccan counterpart to undertake an official visit to Morocco, the Foreign Minister told Mr. Bourita that she was looking forward to visit Rabat, the dates for which will be finalized through diplomatic channels.
The Secretary General thanked the Foreign Minister for the warm hospitality extended to him and stated that his visit to Islamabad was meant to have closer consultations with Pakistani counterparts on issues that were important for regional and global peace and security as both Pakistan and Morocco were currently non-permanent members of the Security Council. He also emphasized on holding joint bilateral consultations by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries on a regular basis.
