Prior to volunteering with Glasgow Central Mosque, Hamid was working seven days a week for his new business. He draws his inspiration from his late brother who faced many difficulties in life but never gave up. Facing difficult times, Hamid sought refuge in religion, and in turn developed a deep sense of faith in seeing Allah (SWT)’s blessings to get them through it. He started to attend Glasgow Central Mosque on a regular basis, including funeral prayers. At a time when the devastating Covid19 Pandemic forced most of the elderly team of the Funeral Department at the Central Mosque in Glasgow, Scotland, Hamid took leave from his routine job of a taxi driver, and stepped up to the challenge. From collecting the deceased from hospitals and homes, to managing their burial rites, attending to their families, and making arrangements at the Cemetery, Hamid was available and at the forefront 24/7, making sure social distancing rules were followed and people were cared for.
