Pakistan and Iran have decided to fast track implementation of the IP Gas Pipeline Project and to formulate a road map to address the challenges and have effective coordination and cooperation on this significant Project. This was one of the important outcomes of a meeting between Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Mr. Bijan Namdar Zangeneh, Minister of Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Iran held at the Ministry of Petroleum at Tehran, yesterday. It was also agreed that a meeting will be held shortly between the experts of both sides to review parameters for accelerating work on IP Gas pipeline
Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi accompanied by Mr. Abid Saeed, Secretary Petroleum and Mr. Mobin Saulat MD of the Pakistan’s Interstate State Gas System arrived in Tehran to discuss the IP Gas pipeline issue with his counterpart and reiterate Pakistan’s assurance to fulfill its contractual obligation as the Project is of immense importance to meet the energy needs of the country. The two Ministers also reviewed in detail the bilateral cooperation and expressed satisfaction over the friendly and cordial relations between the two brotherly countries. Discussing various areas of cooperation‚ both sides emphasized the need to put greater focus on bilateral economic relations.
