As a token gesture of solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, on the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, two plane-loads of emergency relief goods have been sent today for those affected by avalanches in Afghanistan.

The relief assistance consisting of essential food items, tents, blankets, and medicines were received at Kabul Airport by Head of Shura-e-Panjsher, General Din Muhammad Jurat, and Director General of Afghan Disaster Management Authority, Dr. Muhammad Daim Kakar, along with senior Government officials. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan was also present.

Speaking at the occasion, General Jurat and Dr. Kakar expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the Government and the people of Afghanistan for Pakistan’s generous and timely support.

Earlier in his message of sympathy and condolences, the Prime Minister said that people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Afghan brethren as they brave this tragic natural disaster. He also offered all possible relief assistance to Afghanistan to help mitigate the suffering of victims of the natural calamity.
