Embassy of Pakistan, Prague organized first ever Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition, fifth chapter of Mango & Food Festival and the second themed Fashion Show on 27 June 2018 at prestigious neo-renaissance Zofin Palace, located on an island in the Vltava River.
Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Eduard Muricky, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Czech Republic in the morning. It was attended by a large number of Ambassadors and Commercial Counsellors, Czech companies and office bearers of Czech Chambers of Commerce, officials of Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Industry of Trade of Czech Republic and general public. 10 companies from Pakistan namely; Best Foods (food items and mangoes), Brixton (motorbike leather jackets), Ariana Textile (home textile), Rizham Sports (leather garments), Noor Fatima Fabrics (home textile), Borjan Footwear, Pak Humai International (football and sports goods), Young Pro International (leather sports goods), Arshad Gloves (working gloves), Subhan Textiles (grey cloth) and 3 companies from Czech Republic established their pavilions and displayed their products.
Festivities in the evening commenced with video screening of iconic documentary “Emerging Pakistan” depicting cultural diversity, landscape and investment opportunities offered by Pakistan. The documentary has specifically been prepared by Trade development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). The Fashion show showcased “Pret” by Rana Nouman, a prolific Pakistani designer from Lahore. “Jeem Show” presented traditional handmade delicate embroideries (by artisans of Bahawalpur) with a fusion of international trends. “Rici Melion Show” displayed his fabulous collection of formal wear for the young and ebullient. The Czech models presented a catwalk adorned with bridal couture from Ms. Sonia Azhar, presenting the true image of Pakistan. Fusion of Pakistan’s sartorial elegance etched with immaculate designs and the sleek Czech models mesmerized the audience; to most of them, Pakistan had only been associated with negativity
Ambassador Dr. Israr Hussain, while delivering his welcoming remarks stated that Pakistan was the 6th largest country in terms of population in the world and its economy was growing at rate of over 5.6%. Pakistan’s GDP was worth a Trillion Dollar at Purchasing Power Parity. He stressed that economic development of Pakistan provided countless opportunities for Czech entrepreneurs especially in the sectors of infrastructure, energy and agro food processing. Czech entrepreneurs were invited to exploit business and investment opportunities in Pakistan arising out of China Pakistan economic Corridor (CPEC). He emphasized that the audience should themselves visit Pakistan instead of following politically motivated travel advisories to witness peace loving, peace maintaining and peace propagating nation. He drew attention of the audience towards legitimate, long standing struggle for the right of self-determination by the people of IoK and urged it quick resolution. He also alluded to the vision 2025 for Pakistan and Czech Vision 2030.
Mr. Oldrich Lomecky, Mayor of Prague-1 and Ms. Dogmar Kuchtova, Director General Confederation of Industries of Czech Republic also addressed the audience and felicitated Pakistan.
Mr. Radek Vondracek, President (Speaker) of the Chamber of Deputies (Lower House of Parliament) of the Czech Republic was chief guest of the evening while Mr. Daniel Pawlas the Chairman of the Czech- Pakistan Parliamentary friendship group was guest of honour. Delegations of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Faisalabad Chambers of Small Industries Association (FCSIA) flew all the way from Pakistan to participate. A large number of Czech dignitaries, business community, members of Czech and European Parliament, Ambassadors accredited to Prague, leading Czech businessmen as well as members of Pakistani community embellished the event with their presence. The guests were served mango cubes, mango shake and signature Pakistani cuisine which drew great appreciation.
