The Embassy of Pakistan Rome celebrated the 75^th Independence Day of Pakistan today with customary zeal. An elegant Flag hoisting ceremony was held at the embassy.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Jauhar Saleem hoisted the National Flag.

Messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read on the occasion.

Praying for peace, prosperity and progress of the motherland, Ambassador Jauhar Saleem felicitated Pakistani diaspora in Italy and across the globe. He also paid glowing tributes to the father of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and all other leaders of the Pakistan movement for their visionary commitment, unflinching resolve and unwavering struggle against all odds, which led to the creation of an Independent homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-Continent.

He also paid homage to all those unsung heroes who laid their lives, sacrificed their belongings and lost their families for achieving a Muslim state where their future generations could have the opportunity to live with dignity, freedom and in keeping with their Islamic ideals and aspirations.

Shedding light on the history of Indian tyranny in Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, the Ambassador condemned Indian illegal and unilateral actions of 5^th August 2019, aimed at obliterating the distinct identity of Kashmiri people, and altering the demographic structure of IIOJK so as to dampen the indomitable spirit of Kashmiris for their struggle for self-determination. He noted, however, that the valiant resilience shown by the Kashmiris were a testament to the fact that India had failed in its nefarious designs.

The unfaltering spirit of brave Kashmiris remained unshaken, and if anything their resolve and determination for freedom from Indian occupation had only strengthened.

He also underlined that Pakistan would continue to stand by the Kashmiri brethren and provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the struggle for their inalienable right for self determination.

The Ambassador also acknowledged the role of Pakistani diaspora in Italy to the Kashmir cause and paid tribute to their contributions to the economic development of the motherland through their remittances.
