The auspicious Independence Day 2021 flag-hoisting ceremony was organized in the High Commission for Pakistan in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, on 14 August 2021 morning. Over 100 Pakistan Community members along with families and their Tanzanian friends including representatives from Tanzanian media attended the function.
The joyful Pakistan Day festivity started with playing of the National Anthem and the National flag-hoisting by H.E. Muhammad Saleem, High Commissioner. It was followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran. Special messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion were read out by the High Commissioner.
A photo-exhibition slide show covering major events of the Independence movement in 1947 was also displayed during the ceremony. Keeping in view the Special Tree Plantation Campaign of the Government of Pakistan, H.E. Muhammad Saleem also planted a sapling in the lawn of the Chancery.
In his remarks, Mr. Saleem paid tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan whose services and sacrifices led to the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the South Asian Sub-continent.
The High Commissioner thanked the vibrant Pakistani Diaspora in Tanzania for their invaluable contribution to strengthening economic, cultural and people to people relations between the two friendly countries. The High Commissioner also advised the Diaspora members to continue taking all possible safety measures and to follow the host Government Guidelines to avoid Covid-19 pandemic.
