Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Ali Javed met with the Diplomatic Advisor to Italian Prime Minister, Mr. Fabrizio Saggio recently at the PMO. The Ambassador was assisted by Deputy Head of Mission and Third Secretary whereas Deputy Diplomatic Advisor, Mr. Stefano Da Tella was also present.
During the hour-long interaction, status of ongoing bilateral initiatives, under-consideration accords, parliamentary and political exchanges as well as bilateral mechanisms for strategic, political and trade relations were reviewed.
Both sides also took note of discussion on migration opportunities between their Prime Ministers on margins of COP-28 in Dubai December last and expressed satisfaction over the trajectory of their historically trust-based ties, support for each other at UN, EU and Int’l Platforms.
Acknowledging the significant presence of over 300,000 Pakistani expatriates across Italy and welcoming the forthcoming 3rd Session of ‘Bilateral Consular Consultations’ along with the progress towards finalising a comprehensive ‘Labor Mobility Partnership’ accord, Ambassador Saggio appreciated the extraordinary contributions by Pakistani workforce in building the infrastructure in the Gulf region and solicited cooperation towards Italy’s 'Mattei Plan' that aims to recruit 60,000 construction workers till 2026.
Diplomatic Advisor welcomed the presence in Italy of near 3500 students from Pakistan, including 2000 on full, partial or regional Italian Scholarships, as well as Marie Curie, Erasmus and Erasmus Plus programs mostly studying Masters & Ph.Ds in Physics, Mathematics, AI, Robotics, Nano-Tech, Data Analytics, Cyber Security etc. Expressing confidence that the trend would amplify in the future as a best example of people-to-people exchanges yielding immediate gains for both sies, he assured support for increasing students’ visas.
The Ambassador thanked the Diplomatic Advisor for extending support for enhancing students’ visas. He appreciated that Ph. D Archaeology students from Italy regularly visit Pakistan for on-site trainings and research. He praised brilliant youths from both sides as a bridge between their nations and best means for transferring 125 years of recorded history of exchanges to the next generation.
