Ambassador Saima Sayed visited Cabo Verde from Feb 25- March 1, 2024 to present credentials as Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Cabo Verde. Ambassador Saima Sayed is concurrently accredited to Republic of Cabo Verde in addition to Senegal.
Ambassador called on Foreign Minister Mr. Rui Alberto de Figueiredo Soares and presented copy of her credentials. During the meeting, Ambassador Sayed highlighted possible areas of cooperation especially in areas of trainings and cooperation between the Foreign Service Academies of both countries.
Ambassador Sayed presented her letters of credence to the President of Cabo Verde, Mr. Jose Maria Neves at the Palais Présidentiel in Mindelo. During the ceremony Ambassador Sayed was introduced to the ministers of the cabinet and the Diplomatic Advisor of the President. Then the Ambassador had an audience with the President during which she highlighted the need to finalise pending MoUs and engage on the diplomatic and economic issues under the framework of these MoUs. President Neves expressed his support for all these proposals and wished the Ambassador good luck for her tenure. At the end of the ceremony Ambassador Sayed had a brief interaction with the local media.
During her stay in Mindelo, Ambassador also had a meeting with the Northern Chamber of Commerce of Cabo Verde. Pakistan Embassy has been engaging with this Chamber of Commerce since 2021 and was able to bring about participation of Cabo Verdean delegates in 2nd Pakistan Africa Trade Development Conference at Lagos (23-25 November 2021). Pakistan Embassy hopes to further deepen cooperation with the local business community through the Chambers of Commerce in Cabo Verde.
