The Embassy of Pakistan in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, hosted an event to celebrate the 1500th Anniversary of the Birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم on September 5, 2025, at the Embassy. The theme of the event was “State responsibilities in teaching and training of the beneficial use of social media in the light of the Seerat-un-Nabi صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم”
The event started with a recitation from the Holy Quran. In his address, Ambassador Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood gave a comprehensive overview of the theme, explaining its critical importance. He explained that the Prophet Muhammad's (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) life was a perfect model of honesty, kindness, and clear communication. Everything he did was meant to build a community based on truth and compassion.
The Ambassador connected these lessons to today's world. He said that just like any tool, social media can be used to do good things or cause harm. He also highlighted that Holy Prophet emphasized upon truthfulness alongwith practical lessons to not cause any harm to anyone through action and words.
The Ambassador correlated the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH) with the emerging social and moral needs contemporary world. He explained the need of Social Media and how it can be used in a positive way in accordance with the teaching of Holy Prophet. He also stated that government can play a proactive role to make the use of social media in a benefiting manner for society. In this regard government should follow the Prophet's example and take responsibility to lead the welfare of the state and people. They should teach people how to behave online, use social media for learning, and share positive messages. He also said that government has to play role to shed the menace of hate speech and propaganda. The prime objective is to use these digital platforms to bring people together for survival, betterment and co-existence, just as the Prophet (PBUH) promoted a global society based on then principles of humanity and tolerance.,
The event concluded with prayers and recitation of (darood) blessing the Holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).
