To commemorate the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan and "Marka-e-Haq" - Battle for Truth, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Rome, Ambassador Ali Javed hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem and read out messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The Ambassador highlighted the significance of "Marka-e-Haq" as a tribute to the courage, unity, and sacrifices of the Pakistani nation and praised the valour and professionalism of Armed Forces in safeguarding the country's sovereignty.
He reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (HOJK) in their just struggle for the right to self-determination, as enshrined in relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The Ambassador condemned the ongoing human rights violations and demographic changes being carried out in contravention of international law and called upon the international community to play its role in ensuring justice, peace, and the realization of the Kashmiri people's legitimate aspirations.
Commending the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in Italy, the Ambassador noted that with a community of around 300,000, Pakistan leads in remittances, exports, and maintaining a trade surplus with Italy.
He also congratulated Pakistani Diaspora on successful conclusion of MoU on Labour Mobility with Italy, early this year and shared with pride that three Italian nationals have recently been decorated by the Government of Pakistan for their exemplary services to Pakistan. Ambassador's recent interview with leading Italian publication "Scenari Internazionali" (International Scenarios) was also highlighted the active participation of members of the Pakistani community, including children, added vibrancy to the proceedings. The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the Shuhada Marka-e-Haq and traditional Pakistani cuisine.
