High Commissioner Mr. Imran Haider inaugurates Peshawri Food Festival at Hotel Sarina in Dhaka
A two weeks long Peshawari Food Festival has been organised at Hotel Sarina in Dhaka. Featuring a Pakistani Chef is preparing exquisite delicacies, enriching the taste buds of food enthusiasts. High Commissioner Mr. Imran Haider inaugurated the event which was attended by the business community, media representatives, members of civil society and food lovers.
Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner commended Hotel Sarina for organising the festival. He said that Pakistani cuisine is world renowned for its rich flavour, aroma and memorable taste. The recent opening of several restaurants serving authentic Pakistani dishes across Bangladesh, reflect the popularity of Pakistani cuisines.
Mr. Haider noted that people of Pakistan and Bangladesh are bound by cultural and familial affinities. These ties provide a robust foundation to strengthen bilateral cooperation across all sectors. Events such as this work as a catalyst to revive and promote Halal tourism and people to people and cultural exchanges.
Reflecting on growing bilateral trade, he said that Agriculture sector offers immense potential for mutually beneficial trade. He shared that Pakistan is exporting essential commodities including rice to Bangladesh and at the same time paving way for importing Bangladeshi Agri products such as pineapple, jute and betel leaves. While noting that enhanced linkages among the business community are crucial to harness the true potential of bilateral trade, he encouraged Bangladeshi agri-businesses and professionals to participate in FoodAg 2026, scheduled to be held in Karachi from 23–26 November 2026.
The High Commissioner recalled the direct air connectivity between Dhaka and Karachi and invited people of Bangladesh to visit Pakistan and experience its sumptuous cuisines, rich cultural heritage and mesmerising landscapes.
