Independence Day of Pakistan was observed in a most befitting & dignified ceremony at premises of Pakistan Embassy in Rome.

The Event was marked by presence of large number of Pakistani Community, particularly children of varying ages, adorned in national colours, strongly reflective of sentiments of national pride & fervour.

Ambassador Ali Javed hoisted the national flag to the tune of national anthem and read out messages from Hon’ble President and Prime Minister.

In his address, the Ambassador paid tribute to the Shuhada of ‘Tehreek-e-Azaadi Movement’ and highlighted its democratic, legal and political significance and credentials that led to creation of Pakistan on 14 August 1947.

Reaffirming collective resolve for a prosperous, secure and progressive Pakistan, Ambassador paid rich tribute to the valiant armed forces and praised the historic success of ‘Marka-e-Haq’.

Highlighting swift & decisive defeat of India, he lauded armed forces for safeguarding nation’s sovereignty and reinforcing confidence and pride among overseas Pakistanis worldwide.

Commending the contributions of over 300,000 Pakistanis in Italy, the Ambassador highlighted unprecedented remittances of $1.3Bn in 2025, highest among Europe (save UK) and record $1.16Bn export of Pakistani products to Italy in the same period. He acknowledged the brilliance of over 4000 students pursuing higher education in Italy and thanked the community for its role as a vital bridge of friendship with Italy.

The Ambassador announced launch of 3rd ‘Achievement Awards’ and invited community to share their credentials via email (pareprome@mofa.gov.pk). He also launched "1+1" initiative encouraging every community member subscribing to Mission’s WhatsApp Broadcast (+39 344 410 8266) aimed at establishing direct, efficient & transparent linkages between Mission & community, to connect an additional Pakistani with it.

The initiatives aim to project the brilliance of Pakistani students and double the Broadcast subscribers from current 20,000 to 40,000 by the end of 2026.
