Federal Minister for National Heritage & Culture, Hon'ble Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, is leading Pakistan’s delegation at 34th Session of General Assembly of International Centre for Study of Preservation & Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM). The Event is being held in Rome from December 10-12, 2025.
The biennial GA Session brings together delegates from ICCROM’s 139 Member States, including Ministers, Senior Officials, UNESCO as well as heritage experts.
The Hon’ble Minister delivered National Statement at ICCROM GA Session and emphasised critical importance of protecting & preserving cultural heritage amid growing threats from climate change, natural disasters, and armed conflicts.
“Pakistan remains fully committed to working with ICCROM to safeguard our shared heritage for future generations”, he noted.
Minister Khichi highlighted Pakistan’s active engagement with ICCROM, including participation in its flagship programmes on World Heritage Leadership, Disaster Risk Management and youth involvement in heritage conservation.
The Hon'ble Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for ICCROM’s new strategic directions for 2026–2031 and advocated for increased South-South cooperation and shared Pakistan’s experience in post-flood heritage recovery efforts which was warmly welcomed by the Assembly.
Hon'ble Minister Khichi’s participation aligns with Pakistan’s broader diplomatic engagements in cultural diplomacy, including his recent participation at OIC Cultural Festival at Baku, and opens avenues for technical assistance and knowledge exchange to bolster domestic conservation projects.
