Minister OPHRD Chaudhry Salik Hussain has held a bilateral meeting with his Italian counterpart, Excellency Marina Elvira Calderone, earlier in Rome today.

Welcoming the MoU for Migration & Labour Mobility signed in Islamabad on May 7, 2025, both Ministers expressed satisfaction over the inaugural session of its Joint Working Group (JWG) concluded in Rome on 15 September and reaffirmed resolve for a mutually beneficial, structured collaboration in Human Resource Development.

Discussions focused on expanding regular labour channels, pre-departure skills training and recognition, professional upskilling and internships in Italy, as well as efficient visa regime for students.

Minister Hussain accorded a briefing on yesterday's meeting with Interior Minister of Italy and extended an invitation to Excellency Calderone for a bilateral visit to Pakistan. He also highlighted Pakistan's credentials as a hub for job-specific well-trained workforce, complimenting Italy's labour market needs.

Italian Labour Minister acknowledged the contributions of nearly quarter million Pakistanis in Italy towards Italian economy and development while serving as a bridge of friendship between both nations. She warmly welcomed the invitation adding that she would visit alongwith representatives from concerned public departments & private sector.

The meeting concluded with resolve to maximize opportunities for both nations to benefit from their traditionally excellent cooperation and exchanges.
