Hon’ble MNA Madame Shazia Marri, Co-Convener of Pak-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) met her Italian counterpart Hon. Sara Ferrari at Chamber of Deputies in Rome today.
Italian MPs from Friendship Group, Hon. Paolo Ciani and Hon. Valentina Ghio, were also present on the occasion.
Hon’ble Madame Marri underlined highest significance attached to strategic relations with Italy and appreciated traditionally cordial bilateral cooperation, coordination of positions and mutual support at UN & EU.
Both sides noted with satisfaction, the soaring trajectory of bilateral trade, cultural cooperation on heritage and strong defense, military and security cooperation.
They also welcomed signing of Labor Accord on May 6, 2025 in Islamabad and its 1st ‘Joint Working Group’ Meeting held on 15 September 2025 at Rome.
Both sides appreciated their people-to-people linkages, of which, Inter-parliamentary dialogue is the highest expression and form.
Lauding recent signing of MoU on Cooperation between Pakistan Cricket Board & Italian Cricket Federation, both sides concurred to also promote Volleyball and Football coaching for young Pakistanis.
Madame Marri extended an invitation to her counterpart to lead Friendship Group to Pakistan during 1st Half of 2026 which was accepted.
Italy continues to gain popularity among Pakistani students, with over 4,000 currently enrolled in higher education, whereas, Pakistani diaspora in Italy is largest in Europe (save Uk) estimated at 300,000, and remitted a record $1.3Bn in 2025.
