Ambassador of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Ali Javed, and, CEO & MD Italian Trade Agency (ITA), HE Ambassador Mr. Lorenzo Galanti, have held a review of bilateral technical cooperation recently at ITA Headquarters, Rome.
Both Officials, assisted by respective teams, welcomed the success of ‘Italy-Pak Technical Centers’ for Textile and Footwear established since 2020 at Faisalabad and Lahore, respectively.
Expressing satisfaction over robust agro-tech cooperation in Olive Sector, they welcomed understandings reached between Agriculture Ministers during recent bilateral interaction in Rome.
Ambassador thanked ITA for successful execution of ongoing ‘Olive Culture Scale-Up Project’ across Pakistan and accorded a briefing on upcoming “National Olive Value Chain Policy: Implementation Strategy & Roadmap 2024–2030”.
Both sides discussed ‘Agro-Tech Centers’ for Olive Oil and Cheese Extraction. They praised proactive engagement between their national Marble Associations and noted progress toward establishing Italy-Pak Stone Center’ for marble extraction & finishing.
CEO & MD ITA Mr. Galanti affirmed support for forthcoming visit to Pakistan by Technical Mission from Italian Marble Institute in Feb 2026 to assess extraction & finishing of globally renowned Pakistani marble with state-of-art Italian technology.
Ambassador Galanti supported proposal for organising “Sectoral Matchmaking & Seminar Series” for developing & diversifying B2B interaction. He added that ITA shall coordinate and facilitate webinar-based engagement.
The two sides also broached organising ‘Pak-Italy Business Forum’ on margins of next ‘Joint Economic Commission’ due in Islamabad in 2026.
With unprecedented bilateral trade of $1.46Bn and trade surplus of $816mn in FY 2024–25, Italy ranks as Pakistan’s 6th largest trading partner. Pakistan’s exports to Italy, amounting to $1.14Bn qualify Italy as 7th highest export destination, with textiles as top item averaging $750mn over past 5 years.
