The 4th round of Pakistan–Portugal Bilateral Political Consultations was held in Islamabad, on 15th July 2026. Ambassador Ayesha Ali, Additional Secretary (Europe), led the Pakistan side, while Ambassador Helena Malcata, Director-General for Foreign Policy, headed the Portuguese delegation. The two sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explored ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, labour mobility, agriculture, renewable energy, information technology, education and culture. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments and coordination in multilateral forums. The Portuguese delegation called on the Foreign Secretary. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustained engagement and closer bilateral cooperation.
The resumption of the Pakistan–Portugal Bilateral Political Consultations after a three-year gap marks an important step in strengthening institutional engagement between the two countries. These consultations provide a valuable platform to review bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors and identify practical avenues for advancing a mutually beneficial partnership in the years ahead.
