
At 8,611m (28,251ft), K2 is the second highest mountain on Earth. As of 2021, only 377 people have successfully climbed K2. The first summit of K2 was on 31st July 1954 by Italians Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni. Legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner described K2 as “the mountain of mountains”.
