Ambassador of Pakistan in Serbia, Syed Adil Gilani and Madam Naseem Gilani hosted the 78th Pakistan Day Reception and 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Serbia which was accompanied with a cultural show in Hotel Metropole Palace, Belgrade on 23 March 2018. The event was attended by a large number of guests hailing from Government circles, diplomatic corps, businessmen and Multinational companies, important personalities from Serbian society and Pakistani community in Serbia.
Minister for Labour, Employment, Veterans & Social Affairs Mr. Zoran Djordjevic represented the Government of Serbia. Ambassador Gilani presented Ajrak and traditional Sindhi cap to the honorable guest.
The orchestra / cultural troupe from Pakistan played the Pakistani and Serbian national anthems live which was very much appreciated by the guests. Ambassador Syed Adil Gilani in his speech, apprised the audience about the importance and significance of Pakistan Day. Ambassador Gilani briefed the guests about the efforts of the Government for socio-economic development of the people as well as the steps to attract foreign investment. Ambassador Gilani apprised the audience on the efforts of Pakistan's civil and defence administration on rooting out the scourge of terrorism from the country. Ambassador Gilani informed the audience on the host of events planned as part of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Serbia, which date back to 18 May 1948.
Ambassador Gilani said that the events include exhibition of historical documents, in collaboration with archives of Yugoslavia and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia in August 2018. The other events include naming of road or park in Belgrade on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan and exhibition of Pakistani products in famous Republic Square (Trg Republike) in July 2018. Ambassador Gilani also praised the leadership of President Aleksandar Vucic and his Serbian colleagues for extending all possible help in executing his mission of enhancing bilateral relations and bilateral trade.
Ambassador Gilani informed that as part of the celebrations, Pakistan Cricket Board will train Serbian cricketers at the state of the art National Cricket Academy, Lahore in April 2018. Minister for Labour, Employment, Veterans & Social Affairs presented the air tickets to the Serbian Cricket team.
After his speech, Pakistani cultural troupe entertained the guests with Pakistani music and performance which were orchestrated by famous fashion icon of Pakistan, Ms. Shaiyanne Malik. Ms. Zahshanne Zehra Malik and Ms. Afsheen Hayat enthralled the audience with their melodious songs. The troupe also sang Serbian song, to the delight of the audience. The performance introduced the guests with Pakistan's rich culture as well as the business opportunities in fashion industry, culture and tourism industry. Later the guests were served with traditional Pakistani cuisine."
