A very well attended public diplomacy event marking 7 years of illegal and illegitimate actions of Indian government undermining the Special status granted to UN recognized disputed territories of Jammu and Kashmir was hosted earlier today at the Mission. The proceedings commenced with reading out Messages from Pakistan's Leadership, supporting valiant peoples of Kashmir for enduring, what is factually the worst and longest illegal military occupation and UN dispute over any territory or peoples worldwide.
A Seminar on “Kashmir Dispute; An International Law Perspective,” attended by students from LUISS University, Italy's top most International Relations school, representing diverse nationalities was also organized. It was aimed at at fostering greater political awareness and academic understanding for promoting discussions on legal, historical and humanitarian dimensions of undermining own constitutional guarantees, demographic changes, illegal occupation, military suppression and social media crack down and blackouts.
Proceedings were moderated by 3rd Secretary Mr. Shahnawaz Khan and attended by 50 guests.
Mission also arranged on the occasion a Poster Exhibition and Storyboards illustrating historical and legal context of the Kashmir issue. Numerous publications on history including the dispute were also presented. Participating students expressed keen interest in incorporating the subject into their academic research.
Speaking on the occasion, 2nd Secretary Mr. Muhsin Hasan reaffirmed Pakistans unwavering will and continued moral, political and diplomatic support for the indigenous liberation movement by the 3rd generation of Kashmiri youth in pursuit of their just struggle for self-determination. He called upon Italy & EU to execute UNSC Resolutions Nos.47 & 80 for holding a plebiscite under UN auspices and upholding application of international and humanitarian laws.
Embassy’s continual outreach underscores commitment to raising awareness on Kashmir dispute through engagement with academia and civil society in Italy.
