The prize distribution ceremony of Chughtai Art Awards 2026, organized under the theme “Nature’s Wonders: From Himalayas to Cappadocia,” was held today in the historic city of Çorum. The ceremony was graced by H.E. Dr. Yousaf Junaid, Ambassador of Pakistan to Türkiye; Mr. Ali Çağan, Governor of Çorum; Mr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın, Mayor of Çorum; and Mr. Cemil Çağlar, Provincial Director of National Education. The event was also attended by officials from the Çorum Governorship, the Embassy of Pakistan, representatives of the Turkish Ministry of National Education, as well as students, teachers, and media.
In his remarks, Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid highlighted the enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, rooted in shared history, common values, and mutual respect. He noted that this year’s theme aptly reflected the rich natural and cultural heritage of both countries while symbolizing their unity and solidarity. Commending the young artists, he underscored the role of art as a universal language that fosters understanding and strengthens people-to-people ties.
In his speech, Governor Ali Çağan reaffirmed the deep rooted historical and cultural bonds between the two countries , emphasizing that Pakistan Turkiye fraternal ties have continued to grow stronger over time. He underscored the importance of cultural initiatives and youth engagement in further advancing Pakistan Turkiye friendship.
Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın highlighted Çorum’s rich cultural heritage and its openness to international cooperation. He noted that initiatives such as the Chughtai Art Awards not only celebrate artistic excellence but also serve as meaningful platforms for strengthening friendship between nations, particularly through the creativity of younger generations.
In the competition, the first prize was awarded to Ms. Nehir Aylan of Çorum Fine Arts High School. Ms. İrem Dokbaş secured second place, while Ms. Elif Berra Yıldırım of Özejder Social Sciences High School received third place.
Under the Emerging Artist category, awards were presented to Mr. Batuhan Koyun of Atatürk Anatolian High School, Ms. Ceylin Keyvan of Şehit Abdullah Tayyip Olçok Anatolian High School, and Ms. Ece Kaynak of İnönü Anatolian High School.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Mr. Samet Saygın (Eti Anadolu Lisesi), Ms. Gözde Kayaer (Sungurlu Haydar Öztaş Anatolian High School), and Ms. Berru Yağmur Ertaşmış (Cumhuriyet Anadolu Lisesi).
Named after the renowned Pakistani artist Abdul Rahman Chughtai, the Chughtai Art Awards have been organized annually by the Embassy of Pakistan in Türkiye since 2011. Over the years, the competition has been hosted in several cities, including Ankara, Konya, Bursa, Bitlis, Adana, İzmir, and İstanbul, with each edition further reinforcing the spirit of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Türkiye.
