Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir (05 August 2026)
Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir was commemorated at the Embassy of Pakistan in Abidjan on 05 August 2026. Members of National Islamic Council of Cote d’Ivoire attended the event. The event started with recitation from Holy Quran followed by the playing of National Anthems of Pakistan and Kashmir. One-minute silence in solidarity with the Kashmiri people was also observed. Messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out and French translation of the messages were also shared with the audiance. A special documentary depicting the plight of Kashmiris was displayed for the audience.
In his address, Ambassador Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood paid tribute to the courage, resilience, and unwavering resolve of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). He reaffirmed that Pakistan remains steadfast in its support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir just struggle for the realization of their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. He explained the atrocities being committed by Indian occupation forces since 5 August 2019 and emphasized the need for meaningful steps by the international community towards a peaceful resolution of the dispute.
The event concluded with special prayers for the freedom of Kashmir from Indian illegal occupation.
