Prime Minister’s Meeting With The Prime Minister Of New Zealand, Colombo, 16 November 2013
(2013-11-16) On the sidelines of Commonwealth Summit in Colombo, the Prime Minister, today, met Mr. John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand. Prime Minister was assisted by Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs.
Prime Minister John Key congratulated the Prime Minister on his historic election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the third time. He said that this was reflective of the trust reposed by the people of Pakistan in the leadership of the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for enhanced trade and flow of investments between the two countries. He invited New Zealand investors to invest in the areas of power generation, infrastructure development, housing, mining, oil and gas, IT, agriculture and dairy farming. In this regard, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for opening of New Zealand High Commission in Islamabad.
The two leaders also discussed the regional situation. The Prime Minister briefed Prime Minister John Key about the efforts being undertaken by Pakistan towards peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister John Key extended Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif invitation to visit New Zealand at his convenience.
