Public Accounts Committee (PAC) commends the Foreign Office

Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, being the Principal Accounting Officers, represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on 10 January 2013. In response to a comprehensive compliance report submitted by the Foreign Secretary, the PAC Chairman Nadeem Afzal Gondal commended the hard work put in by the Foreign Office in dealing with financial matters. PAC observed that in handling audit related matters the Foreign Office has set an example to be emulated by all other Ministries and Departments of the Government of Pakistan. Such unprecedented praising remarks by PAC exhibit the seriousness with which the Foreign Office is dealing with audit related matters.

Foreign Secretary also briefed PAC on the contours of a new Financial Control System which has been put in place in the Ministry to streamlining the audit related matters and to effectively follow rules and procedures. PAC Chairman wished the Foreign Office well in their pursuit to utilize Government funds as per rules in vogue.
