Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Al-Sheikh, Speaker of Majlis-e-Shura Council of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by a Saudi parliamentary delegation called on Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Warmly welcoming the Saudi delegation, the Adviser noted that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy an exemplary relationship. He said that the ties between the two countries are marked by shared fraternity and brotherhood, religion, culture and common interests. He said that there was similarity of perceptions and understanding on regional as well as international issues between the two countries. The Adviser stated that recent exchange of high level bilateral visits has further cemented the already close ties between the two brotherly nations.
The visiting Speaker expressed his gratitude and conveyed good wishes on behalf of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He highlighted that close cooperation existed between the two countries at regional as well as international forums. The situations in Syria and Yemen also came up for discussion. The two sides agreed that unity of Muslim Ummah was essential to deal with terrorism and violent extremism.
The Adviser and the Speaker expressed satisfaction over the existing state of bilateral relations and appreciated high level exchanges, including reciprocal parliamentary visits, as a means to further promote cordial and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
