Visit of the Executive Director of CICA to Pakistan

Ambassador Cinar Aldemir, Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), visited Islamabad from 21 to 24 February 2013 at the invitation of the Government of Pakistan.

During his stay, Ambassador Aldemir called on Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani, Foreign Secretary. Ambassador Aldemir also held talks with Mr. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Additional Foreign Secretary.

Both sides exchanged views on all issues under CICA’s purview. Ambassador Aldemir appreciated Pakistan’s active and constructive role in CICA. The Pakistan side assured the Executive Director of its continued support to the organization in the fulfillment of its aims and objectives.

Pakistan is a founding member of CICA, which is a regional organization of 24 Asian countries. It provides a forum for cooperation through the implementation of CBMs in the economic, environmental and human dimensions, fight against new challenges and threats, and the military-political field.
