An Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the two countries was signed on 1 July 1992. A Protocol for establishment of Joint Commission at Government Level was also signed on 1 July 1992. Moreover, an Agreement between the two countries on Promotion and Protection of Investments; and Convention between Pakistan and Tajikistan for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income were signed on 13 May 2004. These documents govern the trade and economic relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan.
According to data published by Tajik Customs, during 2023 (Jan-Dec), volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan & Tajikistan stood at US$ 52.73 Million. During the year 2023, volume of bilateral trade increased by 62.33% in comparison with the previous year. During 2023, Pakistan exported goods worth US$ 48.94 Million to Tajikistan. Exports registered 152.2% increase as compared to the previous years. During 2023, goods worth US$ 3.80 Million were imported by Pakistan from Tajikistan.
Major Exports from Pakistan: Sugar and sugar confectionary were the top product exported from Pakistan to Tajikistan in 2023. In addition to it, several products including potatoes, tomatoes, onions, pharmaceuticals, cucumbers, worn clothing, rice, tomatoes etc. were also exported.
Major Imports to Pakistan: During the year 2023, Coal was the largest item imported by Pakistan from Tajikistan followed by coal. In addition to these, several other products including cotton, fruits and vegetables were also imported.
