Pakistan-Afghanistan Graduate Association (PAGA)
Pakistan and Afghanistan have deep-rooted bonds of history, culture, geography, and faith. Pakistan is an active partner to support economic and social development and prosperity in Afghanistan. Around 35,000 Afghans were educated in Pakistani universities and colleges in last thirty years. Currently, more than seven thousand Afghan students are enrolled in various graduate and post-graduate programs in Pakistan. About half a million refugee children attended schools in Pakistan.
The PAGA, Pak-Afghan Graduate Association is non-political organization that was inaugurated by H.E. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and H.E. Hamid Karzai, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is supported by Pak-Afghan Graduates and its establishment is a step to promote people-to-people contacts and encourage academic activities both in Afghanistan and Pakistan and enhance interest of Afghan students to study in Pakistan and that of Pakistani students in Afghanistan that will cherish bilateral relations and help in sustainable friendly relationship between two countries that will play a positive role to bring people of both the countries closer.
