Ukraine is an attractive destination for higher education especially when it comes to Science / Medical Studies. In February 2022, there were more than 2100 students studying in different Universities and offer letters to another 1200 were given for 2022.

2. Unfortunately, at the beginning of Ukraine-Russia war in February 2022 most of the Pakistani students had to leave the country and were evacuated in emergency. This seriously impacted their education. The Mission approached all Ukrainian universities to commence on line education and examination for Spring Semester, 2022. The students have also been allowed to undertake practical work in Pakistan. The Mission has asked the students to register their difficulties which will be taken up with relevant authorities when the situation normalizes.

1. Medical Universities are preferred by Pakistani students. Pakistan Medical Commission categorized the Ukrainian universities and laid down pathways for Pakistani studentswhich was helpful. However, it was experienced that the field of bilateral academic cooperation is sometimes misused by agents. It was recommended to Ukrainian Government to minimize the role of agents in field of education.
2. This by and large can be eliminated by direct admission process in vogue in most of Europe and North American universities. Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has also been approached to lay down pre-condition for admission in Ukraine i.e. 60% marks in national exams of Pakistan and maximum age of 25 years.
3. Efforts are required to be further enhanced for broadening bilateral academic exchanges and collaboration in the field of education.

Ukraine is in state of war with Russian Federation since February 2022. Number of Pakistani diaspora in 2022 was ranging between 3000-4000. However, most of them left the country due to ongoing war. At present approximate strength ranges between 500-600. End of war may see many Pakistani nationals returning back to Ukraine.
