The Embassy of Pakistan in Dushanbe observed Kashmir Solidarity Day to reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and to highlight their just struggle for the realization of the inalienable right to self-determination.
The event was attended by Tajik friends, members of the Pakistani diaspora and community, as well as students. Messages from the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out, underscoring Pakistan’s consistent moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people. Participants also viewed documentaries depicting the prevailing human rights situation in IIOJK.
A photo exhibition was organized on the sidelines of the event, portraying the enduring suffering of the Kashmiri people, the heavy militarization of the occupied territory, and the serious human rights violations being committed under Indian occupation.
In their messages, the President, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister reiterated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains one of the oldest unresolved issues on the agenda of the United Nations, with its final disposition to be determined in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people through a free and impartial plebiscite. They expressed deep concern over India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, continued repression, arbitrary detentions, curbs on media and civil liberties, and attempts at demographic re-engineering in IIOJK.
The messages also drew attention to the alarming rise in human rights violations, including restrictions on religious freedom, profiling of mosques and religious institutions, suppression of digital freedoms, and collective punishment, while emphasizing that durable peace in South Asia remains impossible without a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
The event concluded with solemn prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir and for the early realization of the Kashmiri people’s legitimate aspirations, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to continue standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Jammu and Kashmir until they achieve their right to self-determination.
