Federal Minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal Meets Bangladesh’s Prime Minister-Elect Tarique Rahman: Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Relations Across All Sectors
During his official visit to Dhaka, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman following the oath-taking ceremony, representing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and conveying his message of congratulations and goodwill. He also extended a formal invitation for an official visit to Pakistan.
The meeting reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to strengthening relations across all sectors, particularly trade, maritime connectivity, industrial cooperation, youth development, digital economy growth, and academic partnerships.
Both sides agreed that their youthful populations present a historic opportunity and that investment in skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship can transform this demographic strength into economic progress. They also emphasized integrating supply chains, enhancing exports, and expanding collaboration in emerging technologies, including AI, to address shared development challenges.
The Minister highlighted the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative, which promotes higher education, research, technology transfer, and student exchanges, and proposed revitalizing cultural cooperation, including joint celebrations of Allama Iqbal’s 150th birth anniversary.
The leaders concluded with a shared resolve to accelerate practical cooperation, strengthen regional connectivity, and promote geo-economic collaboration to unlock prosperity for South Asia’s people.
