To express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) who have been waging their struggle against illegal occupation and for their just right to self-determination, “Kashmir Solidarity Day” was observed by the Embassy of Pakistan in Dushanbe, today.
The event started with the recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by playing of national anthems of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Special Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out.
During the event, tribute was paid to the people of Jammu & Kashmir for their legitimate struggle for realization of their inalienable and legitimate right to self-determination. It was highlighted that for the last 76 years, the people of IIOJK were denied of theirfundamental and inalienable human rights. The Kashmir Dispute remained unresolved due to flagrant and blatant refusal of India to keep up with its own commitments and promises made with the United Nations, International Community and Pakistan.
Besides reiterating unwavering political, moral and diplomatic support of Pakistan for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people, it was highlighted that following the illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, India’s efforts have been pointed at engineering demographic and political changes so that the Kashmiris are transformed into a disempowered minority in their own land. The Indian Supreme Court’s judgement of 11 December 2023 is yet another manifestation of India’s desire to undermine the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
Furthermore, to raise the awareness about the plight of the innocent people in IIOJK, special documentaries highlighting atrocities being committed by the Indian occupying forces was screened.
A pictorial exhibition depicting grave human rights violations and plight of Kashmiris in IIOJK was also organized.
Members of Pakistani community including Pakistani students also participated in the event and shared their thoughts on the occasion.
