To express our solidarity and support to our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle for the rights of self-determination and against the atrocities committed in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Embassy of Pakistan Kyiv organized Kashmir Solidarity Day on 5th February 2024. The venue of the event was Islamic Centre, (Hall) Kyiv. Despite prevalent security situation the event was attended by number of local and international guests (by invitation). Besides, maximum Pakistani diaspora present in Kyiv and staff of Diplomatic and Defence Wing of Embassy alongwith their families members attended the event.
The event started with recitation of Holy Quran which was followed by opening
addressed by Ambassador of Pakistan to Ukraine H.E. Major General Retd. Nadir Khan. The Ambassador in his opening remarks explained the crux of the Kashmir issue with its background and chronology to audience. He also explained the present situation in Indian Illegally Jammu & Kashmir (IIOK&J) and highlighted the grave human rights violations and the reign of tyranny, especially in the aftermath of revoking of article 370 and 35A, being imposed on the innocent Kashmiris by the Indian Occupation Forces and illegal attempts of Indian government to change the special status of IIOJ&K. He also talked, about the recent illegal decisions of Indian Supreme Court about an international issue where country's courts have no jurisdiction. The Ambassador also touched upon the other international issues specially the situation in Gaza and Ukraine and asked international community and United Nations Organization (UNO) to play its role.
The messages of the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Mr. Anwaar-
ul-Haq Kakar and Foreign Minister Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani were read out and their translation in Ukrainian language was also made for the understanding of local audience. This was followed by screening of documentary on Indian brutalities in IIOJ&K provided by the Ministry. Copies of broachers received from the Ministry on Kashmir Solidarity Day and Ukrainian translation of messages of Pakistan's President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were also distributed to participants.
Mufti of Ukraine; Mr. Murad Suleman, Vice President, Council of Ukrainian
Muslims; Mr. Dilawar Syed Akhmetov, and Head of Ukrainian Congress of Muslims; Mr. Seron Arifov, also expressed their views in support of the cause of Kashmiri Muslims and highlighted the human rights abuses in the IIOJ&K, Palestine, Crimea, and Syria. They emphasized the need to create awareness among the Ukrainian people about the Kashmir issue to garner further support for the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for right of self-determination. These speeches were followed by reading of beautiful poetry on Kashmir by Mr. Hanan Mustafa, a Pakistani student studying in Kyiv.
The Ambassador in his closing remarks thanked all the participants for their active participation and support during the event. He emphasized that peace and stability in South Asia remain contingent upon peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri. India must realize that it cannot suppress the freedom struggle of the Kashmiri by the use of force. We all strongly condemn the illegal, unilateral, reckless and coercive attempt by India to alter the disputed status of II0J&K as enshrined in the UNSC Resolutions. Pakistan will continue to provide moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people.
The event was concluded with special dua on the occasion, made by Mr. Sohail Afzal, a prominent Pakistani figure taking care of Kyiv Islamic Center, group photo of participants and specially organized dinner for all participants.
